Looks like the Academy may have to go all the way back to January for one of its nominees in 2016. The Reverent looks to be everything great a movie is supposed to be. Action, Drama & History all displayed through a cinematic vision that is incredibly believable and just intense enough to keep you interested from start to finish. Throw Leonardo Dicapprio into the mix and have him portray a character you empathize with and you've got what could quite possibly turn out as best movie of the year. As far as copying Man in the Wilderness, that's a statement that prejudges something you've only seen 2 minutes of. The aforementioned thumbs up I gave is based on a trailer that shows the story, not one the has already told it.
